Start with a cleaned copy
Before you use any AI tool, remove everything that identifies you: name, address, customer number, contract number, IBAN, QR code, barcodes and payment references. Then paste only the relevant line items or upload a redacted screenshot. Use a focused prompt: "Explain this bill in plain language. Group the costs and mark anything I should ask the provider about."
Ask for useful output
Do not settle for a vague summary. Ask for a table with three columns: line item, simple explanation, open question. That makes it easier to see whether a fee is plausible, whether something looks duplicated, or whether a service is described with unfamiliar wording. Add: "Which two points should I check first if I only have five minutes?"
Why it helps
Many bills are not wrong; they are just hard to read. AI can simplify terms, group charges and turn a dense document into a short checklist. That gives you a better starting point before you call support or write an email.
Privacy and limits
Do not upload the original bill with personal data intact. The explanation is not a binding legal, tax or accounting review. Let AI draft a polite question for the provider, but verify the numbers and contract details yourself before sending it.
