Take Photo Proof of Your Home Check Before You Travel

How to Do the Photo Check

Right before you leave, walk through the points that usually make you wonder later: stove off, coffee machine off, windows closed, taps off, front door locked. Photograph only the critical spots. One clear photo of the off stove or closed balcony door is enough.

Use the same order each time so the check stays short: kitchen, windows, appliances, front door. Then leave. Only open the photos if doubt shows up on the road.

Why It Helps

When you are already traveling, your memory often turns vague: β€œI think I did it.” A photo turns that vague memory into a finished action. You do not need to guess, return, or keep replaying the moment.

The useful part is the deliberate check before the photo. You verify the thing, document it once, and close the loop.

Keep It Small

Use this for trips, weekends away, or moments where turning back would be a real hassle. Do not document the whole home. Three to six photos are plenty.

If checking behavior makes you more stressed, or if you notice yourself adding more and more photos, use a short checklist instead. The goal is less rumination, not a new ritual.

Delete It Afterwards

When you get home, delete the photos. Your camera roll stays clean, and the method remains a travel tool rather than a permanent archive.
