Compare BMI and SBMI
Open the Smart BMI calculator if you want to try the comparison. Ordinary BMI relates weight to height. The site’s calculator also shows an age- and sex-aware SBMI value. Treat them as two ways of framing a number, not as a verdict on your health.
- Note the ordinary BMI if that is useful to you.
- Compare it with the SBMI and read the site’s explanation of its model.
- Use the figures, at most, to frame questions—not to diagnose yourself.
What the extra figure adds
Here is the useful distinction: the same ordinary BMI may be framed differently depending on age and sex. Those are factors included in this site’s SBMI model. That makes the comparison more contextual, but it does not automatically make it medically more accurate. The model explanation is the operator’s description; the SBMI is not an independently validated personal risk prediction, and putting it in a calculator does not constitute new clinical validation.
Limits and privacy
The CDC describes BMI as a screening measure: it does not directly measure body fat and is not a diagnosis. Build, muscle mass, and other health factors can matter. Children, pregnancy, and some medical conditions require additional context; ask a qualified health professional about personal health concerns.
The calculator’s privacy page says new inputs and results stay in your browser. That is not a claim that the site sends no data at all: ordinary connection data still exists, and the Google consent dialog is a separate data flow. You can read the site’s model explanation and privacy information for details.
