New JAMA study shows: Caffeine (not decaf!) significantly reduces dementia risk.
The Coffee Effect for Your Brain
A large study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, February 2026) shows: 2β3 cups of coffee per day can significantly reduce your dementia risk.
Important: It must be caffeinated coffee β decaf doesn't provide this benefit.
The Numbers
- 2β3 cups daily: Significantly lower dementia risk
- Previous studies: 3β5 cups at midlife = up to 65% reduced risk in later life
Why Caffeine?
Caffeine appears to have anti-inflammatory effects and reduces brain deposits associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Bottom Line
Your morning coffee is more than a wake-up call β it could protect your brain long-term.
